Ashley Smith, C.E.M
Founder / President

Ashley brings over thirteen years of energy industry experience to the table when negotiating for her clients. Beginning her career at Direct Energy, she has since worked at several top electricity and gas suppliers in both Texas and nationwide to provide procurement and energy management services.

Having worked on the supplier side before moving into a consulting role, she has a keen understanding of how each supplier bids on their energy projects and balances their portfolios. She can leverage this to bring sharp pricing during the bidding process and to match the right vendor to the right client.

Ashley has also weathered several energy market “storms” over her career and as a result, has insights into mitigating risks associated with the energy market’s volatility. She works meticulously with clients to determine their risk profile and can create customized hedging strategies for gas and electricity for customers who want to hedge all of their energy at once as well as clients who wish to time the market and layer in hedges during market dips.

Education is central to Ashley who is a Certified Energy Manager. The Certified Energy Manager Program is the most recognized credential for energy managers and has also achieved Association of Energy Engineers accreditation. Since 1981, the Certified Energy Manager credential has become widely accepted and used as a measure of professional accomplishment within the energy management field. It has gained industry-wide use as the standard for qualifying energy professionals. It is also recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Office of Federal Energy Management Programs, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, as well as by numerous state energy offices, major utilities, corporations and energy service companies.

More importantly, the CEM accreditation in conjunction with her experience has positioned Ashley to help educate her clients on market fundamentals and market trends so they can work together to adequately time the market and reduce their energy spend. She is also able to bring valuable experience in reviewing tariffs and energy invoices and overseeing renewable projects with solar, wind, battery solutions, and backup generation.

Her client experience ranges from small, local businesses as well as national corporations with a footprint in every state. As such her consultative approach is to understand the specific needs of her clients, to work with her clients to create an ongoing initiative to provide market education, and to develop boutique-style procurement strategies and energy projects to meet each company’s needs.
